I don’t guide in the usual sense. I listen for what wants to emerge.

A guest's experience

« When I was really needing deep rest, I spent a month amongst the olive trees at Buscemi. It was a time of total and overwhelming transition for me – for my relationship, my profession and where I lived.

The house is at the top of a tiered olive grove, the trees spread through the bowl of the land, ramps lead down through the stone walls. Wildflowers pop up. Cuttings from the trees show that the olives are managed, it’s a very slow farm.

The location is rural, yet only just a few kilometres from a couple of typical Sicilian mountain villages. Palazzolo can be seen on the skyline in the distance, a dive into the valley and back up takes you to cafés and shops. As a centre for craft, food and drink, the beautiful baroque towns of the south east of the island are an hour away and as beautiful as anything in Europe.

The place is naturally quiet and the night skies are pitch black. The inevitable vespa will go by from time to time. The swimming pool is a great resource, and the bread oven is alongside. Vegetable from the land were often our meals, and village shops provided everything else, so long as the chickens had performed. Pure rest is easy, if that’s what you want.

Marie-Marthe and this place helped me to get my energy back through a shift of focus. In truth I woke with the dawn and slept when it grew dark. It was just what I needed. I’m looking forward to my next visit. »
